Some saved money and had fun in the sun this weekend in Fort Bragg, here at the RV Park or in a tent camp at Hidden Pines RV Park and Campground. Sites from $25 to $33 were popular picks, also a group camp and some larger RV sites were enjoyed as well. Abalone has six weeks plus change until the season will close. This week a blood moon eclipse and monster tides churned up the water a bit so viability was a challenge, but I found a few fresh red abalone and tried out a new secret recipe.

Fort Bragg RV Park - Heat Wave On The Beach - October 3, 2014
Warm weather on a Fort Bragg beach is a good day. The north coast of California in Mendocino county has blue skies, great weather and calm seas for the first weekend of October 2014. Hidden Pines RV park and campground is open all day every day on highway 1 in Fort Bragg where getting into the pacific ocean from a sandy beach in a protected cove, is just a short walk from camp. Some days gazing at the sea is all you can do. Today roll up your pants or put on your shorts, then walk along the sandy shore and wade toward the gentle waves and feel them work their magic on your legs and feet. I like to rub my toes in kelp that washes up on to shore. Some places sell kelp baths - yet I like the pacific salt spray and massaging motion of the waves running towards the beach over my feet and then flowing back to the sea and around my ankles. Abalone season has 4 weeks remaining. If your in Fort Bragg or Mendocino stop by and have a look at the Hidden Pines RV Park and Campground. Check in at the store or use the self register night office. (707) 961-5451 :0)

Abalone RV Camping 2013 Fort Bragg California
RV and Camping sites for Red Abalone Divers and Abalone Pickers are now on sale at Hidden Pines Camp Ground in Fort Bragg California. Call (707) 961-5451 for information. Note also that 2013 abalone has a new twist. "If your abalone card from last year was mailed after Jan. 31, 2013 then you need to check with fish and game in Fort Bragg to see if any restrictions are applied to you. Most divers have reported warnings, myself included, mine was hand delivered in February 2013 and I was told enforcement for the deadline was a new priority. The camping sites look promising this year as spring showers are producing rich green forests and bright colors in the flowers. Wild forest mushrooms are doing well also from the recent showers, extending the season. I took a few photos yesterday here at the camp ground. Please enjoy...

The Big Red Abalone, are a good reason to camp or RV in Fort Bragg California. Hidden Pines Campground diver Mike, aka "Fort Bragg Borg"... is having much fun with other divers this year, as they are swimming wherever they please. Today offered warm weather, flat seas, clear skies, and high visibility. Big Red Abalone provided the reward for a very pleasant afternoon dive. Abalone dinner at Hidden Pines Campground after the dive was fantastic. The big dipper is now shining brightly, as I post the blog and photos for your pleasure. The abalone photos also show some reasons why Fort Bragg Borg insists upon weighing abalone. Three abalone each 8.5 to 8.75 inches, had weight that varied from 3.39 pounds to 5.20 pounds. Five to six pound Big Red Abalone are a great catch, with six to seven pound Big Red Abalone often found too, when diving in Fort Bragg, California.
