Enjoy pictures as you scroll our blog and note, the largest 2013 Big Red Abalone on our scale this year is over 8 pounds... That is a big abalone.  Salmon, rockfish, and abalone are all in season. July will close for the abalone but fireworks and a salmon festival make up for that. Now is a great time to come to the coast. Blue sky and warm temperatures often now including yesterday and today.

Mark Rhodes Big 8 pound Red Abalone - May 2013.

A recent hike up Fern Creek Trail was a great afternoon for only eight bucks.  The hike we took was 4.6 miles and a real delight through a pygmy forest, banana slugs, exotic plants, and a great waterfall too. These pictures turned out ok but see it yourself only 3 miles south from Hidden Pines Campground and if you like you can ride your bike 3.3 miles on the trail and to the trailhead too.

RV or Camp 2013 Fort Bragg - Flowers - Salmon - Abalone

Camping and RV enthusiasts benefit this year from spring showers in Fort Bragg California.  The Mendocino County 2013 spring showers were a perfect recipe as high temperatures climbed into the mid seventies last week. The weekend forecast now for the first weekend in May predicts high temperatures to reach 85 degrees F < :0) The flowers are blooming and the Botanical Garden is 1/4 mile south of the camp ground. Summer is drawing near. Salmon fishing... has just begun. Abalone divers... enjoyed a great weekend last week with calm seas and good visibility. Blue sky and short sleeve shirts are now common sights during the day in Fort Bragg. Evening brings fog floating over the trees and good times visiting around warm camp fires.

Campers at Hidden Pines can order wood delivered to their camp for eight bucks per bundle or twenty dollars for the value load. Ice is delivered also, 10 pound bags are $2.50 from the camp store.  The indoor pool will open the last week of May 2013. The pool room has a hot shower, a great way to start or end any day. Spring vacations are available from $100 to $180 offering a full seven night stay.  Summer vacations are $150 to $225 for a full seven night stay and these are very popular. Group events are featured at Hidden Pines with a variety of camps that can be combined for 20 to 100 people. Call Mike, if you want to know more or for free planning on your group event.

RV and Camping sites for Red Abalone Divers and Abalone Pickers are now on sale at Hidden Pines Camp Ground in Fort Bragg California.  Call (707) 961-5451 for information. Note also that 2013 abalone has a new twist. "If your abalone card from last year was mailed after Jan. 31, 2013 then you need to check with fish and game in Fort Bragg to see if any restrictions are applied to you. Most divers have reported warnings, myself included, mine was hand delivered in February 2013 and I was told enforcement for the deadline was a new priority. The camping sites look promising this year as spring showers are producing rich green forests and bright colors in the flowers. Wild forest mushrooms are doing well also from the recent showers, extending the season. I took a few photos yesterday here at the camp ground. Please enjoy...
